Terms & Conditions of MeetJune
MeetJune provides its services to you (the User) through its website meetjune.com (the Website) and through its related services (the Service(s)) subject to the following general terms & conditions (the Terms & Conditions).
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to change or modify parts of these Terms & Conditions at any time. Whenever we apply changes, we will post these on this page and will indicate at the bottom of this page, together with the date that the Terms & Conditions were last revised. We will also notify you, either through the Website, in an email notification or through other reasonable means. Any such changes will become effective no earlier than fourteen (14) days after they are posted, except those changes addressing new functions of the Website or changes made for legal reasons will be effective immediately. Your continued use of the Website after the date any such changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms & Conditions.
Access and use of the Website
What we do:
The Website is an online global platform that connects locals (the Host) who have something special to offer in a particular travel destination with travelers seeking to undergo unique and unforgettable experiences (the Traveler). Through the Website, Hosts may create and post profiles that provide information about the Hosts knowledge and experience, and may make themselves available to offer certain services to Travelers at a particular destination (each such service, an Experience). Travelers can select the place they would like to visit, the kind of experience they would like to book and the travel date.
Platform nature of the Website:
MeetJune serves as a platform for Hosts and Travelers to meet online and arrange for Experiences. MeetJune is not an operator of Experiences, nor is it a host of meals, homestays and activities, and MeetJune does not own, sell, resell, furnish, provide and/or manage any meal, homestay or activity. MeetJune responsibilities are limited to: (i) facilitating the availability of the Website; (ii) accepting payments from Travelers on behalf of the Host and thus serving as the paying agent of each Host; and (iii) in some cases, booking experiences on behalf of Travelers as detailed below.
You hereby understand and agree that MeetJune is not a party to any agreements entered between Hosts and Travelers, nor is MeetJune a travel agent or insurer. The Website is intended to be used to facilitate the connections between Hosts and Travelers. MeetJune cannot and does not control the legality of any Experience and disclaims all liability in this regard. Accordingly, the planning or partaking of any experience are at the Hosts and/or Travelers own risk.
Registration on our Website:
Member account, password and security:
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account, if any, and are fully responsible for any and all activities that occur under your password or account. You agree to (a) immediately notify MeetJune of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security, and (b) ensure that you log out from your account at the end of each session when accessing the Website. MeetJune will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this Section.
MeetJune uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to further ensure online safety when using the website. SSL is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral.
Modifications to our Website:
MeetJune reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Website (or any part thereof) with or without notice. You agree that MeetJune will not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Website.
General practices regarding use and storage:
You acknowledge that MeetJune may establish general practices and limits concerning use of the Website, including, without limitation, the maximum period of time that data or other content is retained by the Website and the maximum storage space allotted on MeetJune servers on your behalf. You agree that MeetJune has no responsibility or liability for the deletion or failure to store any data or other content maintained or uploaded by the Website. You acknowledge that MeetJune reserves the right to terminate accounts that are inactive for an extended period of time. You further acknowledge that MeetJune reserves the right to change these general practices and limits at any time, at its sole discretion, with or without notice.
The Website may include certain services that are available via a mobile device, including (i) the ability to upload content to the Website via a mobile device and (ii) the ability to browse the Website from a mobile device (the Mobile Services). To the extent you access the Website through a mobile device, your wireless service carrier’s standard charges, data rates and other fees may apply. In addition, using certain Mobile Services may be prohibited or restricted by your carrier, and not all Mobile Services may work with all carriers or devices. By using the Mobile Services, you agree that we may communicate with you regarding MeetJune and other entities by SMS, MMS, text message or other electronic means to your mobile device and that certain information about your usage of the Mobile Services may be communicated to us. In the event you change or deactivate your mobile telephone number, you agree to promptly update your MeetJune account information to ensure that your messages are not sent to the person that acquires your old number.
As a Host, you may create a Profile that showcases your meal, homestay or activity that you can lead. Your Profile will be made publicly available via the Website, and other Hosts may contact you based upon the information provided in your Profile. You acknowledge and agree that you are responsible for your Profile and your own acts and omissions and are also responsible for the acts and omissions of any individuals who are present during the Experience at your request or invitation, excluding the Travelers (and the individuals the Travelers invites to the Experience, if applicable).
You understand and agree that MeetJune does not act as an insurer or as a contracting agent for you as a Host. If a Traveler requests your expertise for an Experience and participates in your Experience, you will enter in an agreement between you as a Host and the Traveler. MeetJune is not a party thereto. Notwithstanding the foregoing, MeetJune serves as your limited authorized agent for the purpose of accepting payments from Travelers on behalf of the Host, and is responsible for transmitting such payments to the Host, subject to these Terms & Conditions.
You represent and warrant that your Profile and your planning of and/or guidance on any Experience:
- Will not breach any agreements you have entered into with any third party (such as any agreements with or rules of employers or local tourism agencies)
- Will (a) be in compliance with all applicable laws, tax requirements, and rules and regulations that may apply to any such Experience, including, but not limited to, tourism, tour guide licensing laws, and other laws governing events and tours of public spaces and other venues and (b) not conflict with the rights of third parties.
Please note that MeetJune accepts no responsibility for any Host`s or Travelers compliance with any applicable laws, rules and regulations. MeetJune reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice, to remove or disable access to any Profile for any reason, including Profiles that MeetJune, in its sole discretion, considers to be objectionable for any reason, in violation of these Terms & Conditions or otherwise harmful to the Website.
MeetJune recommends that Hosts and Travelers obtain appropriate insurance for their Experiences. Please review any insurance policy that you may have for your Experience carefully, and in particular please make sure that you are familiar with and understand any exclusions to, and any deductibles that may apply for, such insurance policy, including, but not limited to, whether or not your insurance policy will cover the actions or inactions of Travelers (and the individuals the Traveler invites to the Experience, if applicable) while participating in your Experience.
In addition, although these Terms & Conditions require users to provide accurate information and we use email verification and social media sign in, we do not actively attempt to confirm, and do not confirm, any user’s purported identity. You are responsible for determining the identity and suitability of others who you contact via the Website. We will not be responsible for any damage or harm resulting from your interactions with other users. If possible we will assist you – to the best of our abilities – with any issues that you may encounter with other Users when using the Services, however, by using the Services, you agree that any legal remedy or liability that you seek to obtain for actions or omissions of other users or other third parties will be limited to a claim against the particular user or other third party who caused you harm and you agree not to attempt to impose liability on, or seek any legal remedy from MeetJune with respect to such actions or omissions. Accordingly, we encourage you to communicate directly with other users via the Website regarding any bookings or Experiences made by you. This limitation shall not apply to any claim by a Host against MeetJune regarding (i) the remittance of payments received from a Traveler by MeetJune on behalf of a Host or (ii) the failure of MeetJune to book a MeetJune Booking for which the Traveler provided accurate booking information.
Conditions of use
Bookings and financial terms for Hosts:
If you are a Host and a booking is requested for your Experience via the Website, you will be required to either confirm or reject the booking within the specified timeframe of 48 hours of when the booking is requested (as determined by MeetJune in its sole discretion) or the booking request will be automatically cancelled. If you are unable to confirm or decide to reject a booking of an Experience within the specified timeframe, any possible amounts collected by MeetJune for the requested booking will be refunded to the applicable Travelers credit card and any pre-authorization of such credit card will be released. When a booking is requested via the Services, we may share with you the first and last name of the Traveler who has requested the booking and a link to the Travelers MeetJune Account profile page.
The fees displayed in each Experience are referred to as Total Fees and consist of an amount for which the host offers his/her experience and a Guest Service Fee (defined below). Where applicable, taxes may be charged in addition to the Total Fees. The amounts due and payable by a Traveler solely relating to a Host’s Experience is the Total Fee. To help cover the costs of processing payments and to cover the costs of running MeetJune, we charge travelers a 15% guest service fee every time a reservation is completed. This service fee is added to the amount for which the host offers his/her experience. MeetJune will collect the Total Fees at the time of booking confirmation (i.e. when the Host confirms the booking within the specified timeframe) and will initiate payment to the Host within 24 to 48 hours after the Experience is completed (except to the extent that a refund is due to the Traveler or when the Host is based in a country where there is poor connectivity and/or lack of digital payment infrastructure, see chapter Payouts and Payments). However, please note that we will not be responsible for delays in remitting payments.
The Host is responsible for updating its listed price for the Experiences he placed on the Website. No price increases or additional costs can be charged to the Traveler after the booking has been made. In the event that listed prices for Experiences increase due to Force Majeure since the moment of booking the Experience, Hosts must contact the Traveler as soon as possible informing them of the price increase and requesting their permission to add the additional cost to the Total Fees charged to the Traveler.
Each Host hereby appoints MeetJune as the Host’s limited agent solely for the purpose of collecting payments made by Travelers on behalf of the Host. Each Host agrees that a payment made by a Traveler to MeetJune shall be considered the same as a payment made directly to the Host and the Host will make the Experience available to the Traveler in the agreed upon manner as if the Host has received the payment. MeetJune assumes no liability for any acts or omissions of the Host.
Please note that MeetJune does not currently charge fees for the creation of Profiles. However, you acknowledge and agree that MeetJune reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to charge you for and collect fees from you for the creation of Profiles. MeetJune will provide notice of any such fees via the Website and by mail prior to implementing such fees.
Bookings and fees for Travelers
The Host is responsible for all bookings via its dashboard on the Website. As part of the Booking, Travelers may be required to enter into an agreement with the Host, and the Traveler agrees to accept any terms, conditions, rules and restrictions associated with the itinerary imposed by the Host (the Itinerary). Traveler acknowledges and agrees that MeetJune is not a party to any agreement between the Host and the Traveler, and that, with the exception of its payment obligations and obligations related to MeetJune Bookings hereunder, MeetJune disclaims all liability arising from or related to any such agreements. The Traveler acknowledges and agrees that, notwithstanding the fact that MeetJune is not a party to any agreement between the Host and the Traveler, MeetJune acts as the Host’s payment agent for the limited purpose of accepting payments from the Traveler on behalf of the Host. Upon Travelers payment of amounts to MeetJune which are due to the Host, Travelers payment obligation to the Host for such amounts is extinguished, and MeetJune is responsible for remitting such amounts, less MeetJune’s Guest Service Fee, to the Host. In the event that MeetJune does not remit any such amounts to a Host, such Host will have recourse only against MeetJune.
Please note that the actual amount charged by third parties for various items in the Itinerary may differ from the price quoted in the Booking, as prices may fluctuate before each booking is confirmed. If the actual prices are higher than the Total Fees, the Host will contact you to request your permission prior to booking.
MeetJune, in its sole discretion, round up amounts as shown on our Website to integers. An integer is a number that can be written without a fractional component. For example, 15, 22, 30 are integers, 15,20, 22,75 and 30,15 are not.
Payouts and Payments
All payments between MeetJune and Hosts will go through either Paypal or Wire Transfer. To receive payouts, hosts must have a valid PayPal or bank account, for which the host is solely responsible.
Payouts to the host will be made 24 to 48 hours after the experience is completed. However, please note that we will not be responsible for delays in remitting payouts.
In countries where there is poor connectivity and/or lack of digital payment infrastructure we work with in-cash payments which means the Traveler pays the Host on-spot in cash.
Cancellations – PayPal or Wire Transfer Country
The Host is authorized to cancel an accepted Experience if causes of force-majeure arise or whenever the minimum participation requisites described for the performance of the Experience are not reached. In such cases, MeetJune shall reimburse to the Traveler the full price paid by the latter. The cancellation of Experiences by Hosts in any cases other than those indicated shall enable MeetJune to automatically terminate the subscription of the Host in the Service.
The reimbursement of the price to the Traveler shall be made between 24 and 48 hours after cancellation of the Experience.
Any Hosts who may be obliged to cancel Experiences in relation to which bookings have been made must send an e-mail to [email protected] The Host shall receive confirmation from MeetJune communicating that the cancellation has been attended. If the Host does not receive said confirmation, it must contact MeetJune as soon as possible through any of the mechanisms of communication available at the Website.
At any time, the Traveler is entitled to cancel the Experience booked in accordance with the following policy:
Advance notice Refund
From 0 to 4 days to the performance of the Experience 0%
More than 4 days to the performance of the Experience 100%
A Traveler can cancel an experience via his/her backend.
Cancellations – In-Cash Country
The Host is authorized to cancel an accepted Experience if causes of force-majeure arise or whenever the minimum participation requisites described for the performance of the Experience are not reached. In such cases, MeetJune will not reimburse to the Traveler the Guest Service Fee of 15%. The cancellation of Experiences by Hosts in any cases other than those indicated shall enable MeetJune to automatically terminate the subscription of the Host in the Service.
A Traveler can cancel an experience via his/her backend but once paid, the Guest Service Fee of 15% is non-refundable.
When a Traveler does not show up MeetJune will not reimburse to The Host because of the fact that there is lack of/or no payment/payout infrastructure and it is therefore impossible to wire transfer the money to the Host. A no-show of a Traveler is therefore of the host own risk. MeetJune will take appropriate actions against Travelers that don’t show up.
Traveler Refund Policy
These Terms & Conditions govern the MeetJune traveler refund policy (the Traveler Refund Policy) available to Travelers who book and pay for an Experience listed by a Host through the MeetJune Website and suffer a Travel Issue (as defined below) and the obligations of the Host associated with the Traveler Refund Policy.
If you are a Traveler and suffer a Travel Issue, we agree, at our discretion, to either (i) reimburse you up to the amount paid by you through the Website, as determined by MeetJune in our discretion, depending on the nature of the Travel Issue suffered or (ii) use our reasonable efforts to find and book you another Experience which in our determination is reasonably comparable to the Experience described in your original reservation in terms of content and quality. For clarity, in the event the alternative Experience is of a higher price than the former, you may be responsible for any difference in price. In the event the alternative Experience is of a lower price, you may be entitled to a partial refund for the difference. All determinations of MeetJune with respect to the Traveler Refund Policy, including without limitation the size of any refund, shall be final and binding on the Travelers and Hosts.
A Travel Issue means any of the following:
- The Host of the Experience (i) cancels a reservation within 24 hours before the scheduled start of the Experience, or (ii) fails to provide the Traveler with the reasonable ability to access the Experience (e.g., by allowing the Traveler access to the space in which the Experience will happen or begin, if applicable).
- The description of the Experience in the listing on the Site is materially inaccurate with respect to (i) the duration of the Experience, (ii) the content of the Experience (including but not limited to the stated activities or sites, as applicable), or (iii) the physical location of the Experience.
- During the Traveler’s Experience, conditions do not meet safety or health hazards that would be reasonably expected, given the nature of the particular Experience, in MeetJune judgement.
Conditions to claim a Travel Issue
A Traveler may submit a claim for a Travel Issue. If you are a Traveler, in order to submit a valid claim for a Travel Issue and receive the benefits with respect to your experience/reservation, you are required to meet each of the following conditions:
- You must report the Travel Issue to MeetJune in writing ([email protected]) and provide us with detailed information about the Experience and the circumstances of the Travel Issue within 24 hours after the start of your reservation, and must respond to any requests by us for additional information or cooperation on the Travel Issue;
- You must not have directly or indirectly caused the Travel Issue (through your action, omission or negligence); and
- You must have used reasonable efforts to try to remedy the circumstances of the Travel Issue with the Host prior to making a claim for a Travel Issue.
Minimum quality standards, Host responsibilities and Traveler reimbursements
If you are a Host, you are responsible for ensuring that the Experiences you list on the Website meet minimum quality standards regarding adequacy of the description on the Website, safety, health, and do not present a Traveler with Travel Issues. Throughout the Experience, Hosts should be available in order to try, in good faith, to resolve Traveler Issues.
If you are a Host, and if (i) MeetJune determines that a Traveler has suffered a Travel Issue related to an Experience listed by you and (ii) MeetJune either reimburses that Traveler any amount up to the amount paid by the Traveler through the Website for the Experience or provides an alternative Experience to the Traveler. All determinations of MeetJune with respect to the Traveler Refund Policy, including without limitation the size of any refund to the Traveler, shall be final and binding on the Travelers and Hosts.
The rights of the Travelers under the Traveler Refund Policy supersede any cancellation policy that a Host may otherwise apply to a particular Experience. If a Host disputes the Travel Issue you may notify us in writing ([email protected]) and provide us with information (including evidence) disputing the claims regarding the Travel Issue, provided you must have used reasonable and good faith efforts to try to remedy the Travel Issue with the Traveler prior to disputing the Travel Issue claim (and you must provide evidence of having done so). You agree that all determinations of MeetJune with respect to the Travel Issue shall be final and binding on the Travelers and Hosts regardless of your submission of a dispute against such Travel Issue. In the event of one or more Travel Issues, MeetJune, in its discretion, may elect to take additional actions. These actions include, but are not limited to, negatively affecting your listing ranking, automated reviews or notifications indicating Travel Issues, cancelling future bookings, suspending or removing the listing of the Experience or imposing penalties or fees for the administrative burden associated with the Travel Issues.
General Provisions relating to the Traveler Refund Policy
(a) No Assignment/No Insurance.
This Traveler Refund Policy is not intended to constitute an offer to insure, does not constitute insurance or an insurance contract, does not take the place of insurance obtained or obtainable by the Traveler, and the Traveler has not paid any premium in respect of the Traveler Refund Policy. The benefits provided under this Traveler Refund Policy are not assignable or transferable by you.
MeetJune reserves the right to modify this Traveler Refund Policy.
If MeetJune modifies this Traveler Refund Policy, we will post the modification on the Website or provide you with notice of the modification. Booked Experiences will not be affected by such modifications and MeetJune will continue to process all claims for Travel Issues made prior to the effective date of the modification.
Cancellations due to other factors
Certain Experiences may depend on factors outside either party’s control, such as weather (Outside Factors). The Host has the discretion as to whether Outside Factors will prevent the Experience from taking place. As a Host, if you need to cancel an Experience due to Outside Factors, you must contact the Traveler. Subject to the Travelers consent, the Host and the Traveler may choose to reschedule the Experience for another date. If the Experience cannot be rescheduled, the Traveler should contact MeetJune so we may assist in finding a replacement Experience. For clarity, in the event the alternative Experience is of a higher price than the former, you may be responsible for any difference in price. In the event the alternative Experience is of a lower price, you may be entitled to a partial refund for the difference. As a Traveler, if you have contacted MeetJune as provided above and MeetJune is unable to find you a replacement Experience, MeetJune may refund the Total Fees for such booking to the applicable Traveler within a commercially reasonable time of the cancellation.
Damages caused by the Traveler
If the Traveler causes damages to the properties of the Host or properties used for the Experience, the Traveler and the Host are expected to solve this amicably between themselves. As MeetJune is not a party to the agreement between the Traveler and the Host, MeetJune has no obligation to provide advice, mediate or otherwise assist with resolving the damages caused by the Traveler.
You understand and agree that you are solely responsible for determining your applicable tax reporting requirements in consultation with your tax advisors. MeetJune cannot and does not offer tax-related advice to any users of the Website. Additionally, please note that each Host is responsible for determining local indirect taxes and for including any applicable taxes to be collected or obligations relating to applicable taxes within Itineraries.
You are solely responsible for all code, video, images, information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, messages or other materials (content) that you upload, post, publish or display (hereinafter, upload) or email or otherwise use via the Website. MeetJune reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate legal action against anyone who, in MeetJune’s sole discretion, violates this provision, including, without limitation, removing the offending content from the Website, suspending or terminating the account of such violators and reporting you to the law enforcement authorities. You agree to not use the Service to:
- Email or otherwise upload any content that (i) infringes any intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party; (ii) you do not have a right to upload under any law or under contractual or fiduciary relationships; (iii) contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment; (iv) poses or creates a privacy or security risk to any person; (v) constitutes unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, commercial activities and/or sales, “junk mail,” “spam,” “chain letters,” “pyramid schemes,” “contests,” “sweepstakes,” or any other form of solicitation; (vi) is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, excessively violent, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, libellous, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable; or (vii) in the sole judgment of MeetJune, is objectionable or which restricts or inhibits any other person from using or enjoying the Website, or which may expose MeetJune or its users to any harm or liability of any type;

- Obtain or attempt to access or otherwise obtain any materials or information through any means not intentionally made available or provided for through the Website;

- Contact a Host for any purpose other than asking a question related to a booking, such Host’s Experiences or Profiles;

The arbitrator’s decision and award will be made and delivered within sixty (60) days of the conclusion of the arbitration and within six (6) months of the selection of the arbitrator. The arbitrator will not have the power to award damages in excess of the limitation on actual compensatory, direct damages set forth in the Terms & Conditions and may not multiply actual damages or award punitive damages or any other damages that are specifically excluded under the Terms & Conditions, and each party hereby irrevocably waives any claim to such damages. The arbitrator may, in his or her discretion, assess costs and expenses (including the reasonable legal fees and expenses of the prevailing part) against any party to a proceeding. Any party refusing to comply with an order of the arbitrators will be liable for costs and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, incurred by the other party in enforcing the award. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the case of temporary or preliminary injunctive relief, any party may proceed in court without prior arbitration for the purpose of avoiding immediate and irreparable harm. The provisions of this arbitration section will be enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction.
